On Friday morning we got in the Sportage and headed north to Lake Shasta.  Since i never take the direct route, we ended up on some quiet back roads between Modesto and Sacramento,  which brought me to these two gems.

I’ve seen them from a distance,  most recently from the Amtrak that runs up the central valley.  However this is the first time I have been near the site.  What is now a recreation area where you can picnic, fish and camp was the home of a nuclear power plant.  I can vaguely remember as a kid the controversies that surrounded this and other power plants.

Today though I find these two huge towers to be an amazing site. Surrounded by both vineyards of grapes and a solar farm.
